Which neighborhood?
Hotels cluster in two sectors. Most boutique + luxury is in Centru on or near Bulevardul Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt. The internationally-branded 4-stars (Courtyard, Tulip, Aria) are in Buiucani — quieter, more residential, 10–20 min by Bolt to Centru. Botanica has the airport hotels. Default for most visitors. Cathedral, parks, government quarter, embassies, theatres, restaurants. Walk to almost everything.

Botanica

Floor + street

- Pets: Radisson Blu does not allow pets. Aria, City Park, and ZENTRUM explicitly allow pets (City Park charges a small fee on request). Most others require advance approval + a cleaning fee. Better odds via Airbnb if you're travelling with one.

Real seasonality, despite the modest scale of the market. Chișinău isn't flat-rate year-round; aggregator data shows ~3× spread between cheapest and peak months.

March consistently the floor across aggregators (~45% below mean); November and January–February also cheap. Day-of-week pattern varies by source — Friday is often cheapest on Momondo, but other aggregators put Sunday or Tuesday there.

Are hotel rooms smoke-free?+
Yes — Moldova's 2016 smoke-free law bans smoking in all enclosed workplaces including hotel guest rooms, balconies of enclosed buildings, and within 10 m of entrances. Vaping included. Fines run MDL 1,000–3,000 (€50–150).
Do hotels include breakfast?+
Almost always at 4-star and above — typically a sit-down buffet. Mid-range and budget tiers vary; check the rate fine print. GREGORY's breakfast (with champagne) is the most cited; Courtyard by Marriott's buffet is the largest.
When do central hotels sell out?+
National Wine Day (3–4 October 2026, the 25th-anniversary edition) — book at least 2 months ahead for centre hotels. Independence Day (27 August) — book 4–6 weeks ahead. Outside those two windows, 1–2 weeks ahead is fine even in summer.
Hot water in Airbnbs?+
Chișinău's centralised system (Termoelectrica) shuts off hot water sector-by-sector for maintenance between June and August. Outages typically last 2–6 days per address (the 2025 cycle ran 2–6 days across Botanica, Rîșcani, and Buiucani). Modern hotels have independent boilers and are unaffected; Soviet-era apartment buildings without their own boiler are. Ask the apartment host whether the building has an electric or autonomous boiler before booking June–August dates.
Bolt vs Yandex Go vs airport taxi?+
Bolt launched in Chișinău on 15 September 2025 and is now the default (in-app card, English UI). Yandex Go / Yango also operate. Airport → Centru: ~150 MDL (€7.50), 20–30 min in light traffic. Official airport-rank taxis charge MDL 120–160; the metered rate is MDL 50 base + MDL 5/km. Avoid touts inside Arrivals — use the rank or the app.
Safe for solo travelers?+
Yes — Chișinău has low violent crime and a well-lit centre. The hotels and hostels above are all in busy, walkable areas. Normal big-city precautions after midnight on side streets.
