Chișinău → Hotels

Where to stay in Chișinău — verified picks across 25+ hotels, hostels, and apart-hotels.

A small, walkable luxury cluster in Centru. A handful of internationally-branded 4-stars in Buiucani. Strong apart-hotels for stays past three nights. And the city's best-rated property is a 34-room boutique scoring 9.7 on Booking — not the chain you'd guess. Below: every hotel worth knowing, with verified addresses, room counts, ratings, and what each one is actually for.

Picks by trip type

If you already know what kind of trip you're on, skip ahead. The shortlist below is opinionated — these are the picks we'd give a friend, with the obvious second choice noted.

Highest-rated, full stop

GREGORY Boutique Hotel — 9.7 on Booking across 1,330+ reviews, the highest score in the city. Family-owned, 34 rooms, neoclassical interior, breakfast comes with champagne.

Business trip

Courtyard by Marriott for chain consistency, EV charging, and Bonvoy points (it's in Buiucani by Malldova — 15 min Bolt to Centru). Radisson Blu if you need the conference space — Moldova's largest ballroom.

Wine-trip base

Wine Hotel Chișinău for the on-site Moldovan-only wine bar. Any central hotel works otherwise — Cricova, Mileștii Mici, and Castel Mimi all run door-to-door pickups (see /wine-tours).

Early flight out

ibis Styles Chișinău — 3.5 km from RMO, opened May 2025, 9.2/10. Otherwise stay central: Bolt to airport is 20–30 min and ~150 MDL (€7.50) even pre-dawn.

Compare top picks at a glance

Booking.com guest scores are aggregate, recent at time of review. "From" prices are typical low-season floors for a standard double and rise sharply for National Wine Day, Independence Day, and June peak.

Ratings + review counts via Booking.com (May 2026). Prices are typical low-season floors — actual rates vary by date and rate type.

Which neighborhood?

Hotels cluster in two sectors. Most boutique + luxury is in Centru on or near Bulevardul Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt. The internationally-branded 4-stars (Courtyard, Tulip, Aria) are in Buiucani — quieter, more residential, 10–20 min by Bolt to Centru. Botanica has the airport hotels. Telecentru and Râșcani are almost all apartments. Full sector profiles on /chisinau.

Centru

Default for most visitors. Cathedral, parks, government quarter, embassies, theatres, restaurants. Walk to almost everything.

Hotels here: Radisson Blu, BERD'S, GREGORY, Nobil, Bernardazzi, Mercure Jazz, Bristol Central Park, City Park, ZENTRUM, Park Lane, Wine Hotel, the three apart-hotels, and all the central hostels.

Buiucani

Quiet, green, the most affluent sector — diplomatic missions, parks (Alunelul, Dendrarium, Valea Morilor), schools. Where the 4-star chains landed.

Hotels here: Courtyard by Marriott (next to Malldova mall), Aria Hotel, Tulip Residence & Spa. Plan on 10–20 min Bolt to Centru (~50–80 MDL).

Botanica

Largest sector by population. Contains Chișinău International Airport (RMO), the Botanical Garden, and the zoo. Commute-prone in business hours.

Hotels here: ibis Styles (3.5 km from terminal), Vila Iris (~5 km). Otherwise the sector is residential.

Telecentru & Râșcani

Telecentru: hilly south-central, villas, international schools, expat enclave. Râșcani: Soviet blocks and new builds, students. Both have plenty of apartments; almost no hotels.

Stay here via: Airbnb, Vrbo, or local platforms (CVS.md, RentHub.md). See apartments section.

Luxury (5-star, €150–280+/night)

Four properties — three boutique-scale, one large chain. All in Centru, all walkable to the cathedral. Rates climb during National Wine Day (3–4 October 2026) and Independence Day (27 August); book at least two months out for those windows.

Radisson Blu Leogrand Hotel

5★ · 143 rooms · 8.9 / 749 reviews

Mitropolit Varlaam 77, MD-2012 · Centru · radissonhotels.com

The city's largest 5-star and the default international-chain pick. 143 keys (66 standard, 58 superior, 10 premium, 6 junior suites, 2 suites, 1 presidential), full Lotus Spa (sauna, hot tub, Turkish bath), 300 m² fitness centre, ~1,300 m² ballroom (Moldova's largest), indoor casino, paid parking. Four F&B outlets: Ambassador (all-day buffet), New York Restaurant Bar & Grill, Zaxi (panoramic Asian), Aptys Pub (24-hour). The choice if you want predictable.

BERD'S Design Hotel (Accor MGallery)

5★ · 33 rooms · 9.2 / 246 reviews

Bd. Dimitrie Cantemir 12, MD-2001 · Centru · berdshotel.com · +373 22 022222

Moldova's only Accor MGallery property — design-led, 33 keys across six floors, building by Italian architect Luca Scacchetti. Furniture by Poltrona Frau, lighting by Flos, hand-woven Tibetan rugs; the Prestige Suite carries Antonio Citterio pieces specifically. Spa by BERD'S with Balinese therapists, free private parking, free shuttle to the historic centre. In-house restaurant runs tasting menus locals book independently. No pool, no gym. The choice if you want personality over chain consistency.

GREGORY Boutique Hotel

5★ · 34 rooms · 9.7 / 1,336 reviews

Str. Alexei Șciusev 83/1, MD-2012 · Centru · gregoryhotel.md · +373 78 774477

The highest-rated hotel in Chișinău on Booking, full stop. Family-owned (Ohrimenco family), 34 keys (16 with balconies, 6 with panoramic windows), neoclassical interior, memory-foam beds with a pillow menu, blackout drapes, soundproofing, fireplaces in select rooms. GREGORY Fine Dining on site. Two blocks from Valea Morilor Park, 350 m from the National History Museum. Breakfast — described in nearly every review — comes with champagne. Private + public parking; airport transfer €50 one-way.

Nobil Luxury Boutique Hotel

5★ · 40 rooms · 9.1 / 605 reviews

Str. Mihai Eminescu 49/1, MD-2012 · Centru · nobil.md · +373 22 400400

40 keys across seven categories (Standard → Presidential). Baroque interiors, crystal chandeliers, marble floors. Nobil Spa does Thai massage + hydrotherapy + sauna; 24-hour fitness centre; the only DESSANGE™ beauty salon in Moldova; rooftop 7th-floor Nobil Restaurant (Mediterranean, panoramic). ~10 minutes walk to Cathedral Park. Most expensive of the four by published rate card.

Mid-range (4-star, €50–130/night)

Nine properties — six in Centru, three in Buiucani. Breakfast is almost always included at this tier; late check-out is usually free mid-week on request the night before. Bernardazzi is officially 4-star (not 5 as often listed) but punches above its tier with the city's only adults-only indoor saltwater pool.

In Centru

Bernardazzi Grand Hotel & Spa

4★ · 24 rms · 8.9 / 1.3k

Str. Alexandru Bernardazzi 38 · grandhotel.md · +373 22 850500

Indoor saltwater pool (adults-only, surcharge), sauna, spa centre, ~60 m² conference space, free private parking, paid airport shuttle, 60-cover restaurant + bar. Opened July 2019 — new build. Best price-to-quality at the top of the mid-range.

Mercure Chișinău Center Jazz

4★ · 76 rms · 8.3 / 56

Str. Vlaicu Pîrcălab 72 · Accor · +373 22 212626

Accor Mercure franchise — was the independent Jazz Hotel before the rebrand. Same building, jazz-instrument décor and piano in the restaurant. Steps from Ștefan cel Mare. Use it for Accor status; review count low because the rebrand reset Booking history.

Bristol Central Park Hotel

4★ · 113 rms · 8.9 / 2.6k

Str. Alexandr Pușkin 32 · bristol.md · +373 22 902222

Tallest of the central mid-range (11 floors), park-facing rooms across five categories from Economy to Ambassador Suite. Henry's Pub on the top floor has a panoramic view of Parliament. 24-hour lobby bar, two conference halls, small 5th-floor gym. Repeated guest complaint: thin interior walls.

City Park Hotel Chișinău

4★ · 41 rms · 8.7 / 2.9k

Str. Eugen Doga 2A · city-park.md · +373 22 009249

Pedestrian-street location next to Cathedral Park — consistently one of the highest Booking location subscores in the city (9.6+, 9.7 couples). Fitness centre, two restaurants (Butcher European + LuGallery Italian), heated bathroom floors, pet-friendly. Trade-off: occasional buskers on the pedestrian street.

ZENTRUM Hotel Chișinău

4★ · 35 rms · 9.4 / 839

Str. 31 August 1989, 103 · zentrum.md · +373 22 909000

Housed in an 1875 building with Alexander Bernardazzi credited as architect. Each room themed around a great artist — Moldovan painters Arush Votsmush and Mark Verlan alongside Van Gogh and Kandinsky. Many units have kitchenettes + washing machines (hybrid hotel / apart-hotel format). On-site restaurant, free parking, pet-friendly. <600 m to the Triumphal Arch.

Park Lane Hotel

3★ · 16 rms · 9.0 / 1.5k

Str. Mihail Kogălniceanu 93V · by Valea Morilor Park, 300 m from US Embassy

Officially 3-star but aggregators call it 4 — performs above its tier. 16-key boutique, French/Mediterranean on-site restaurant, sauna, fitness room, free parking, airport transfer, homemade breakfast. Tripadvisor #1 B&B/inn in Chișinău (of 46).

In Buiucani

Courtyard by Marriott Chișinău

4★ · 118 rms · 9.2 / 670

Str. Arborilor 21/A, MD-2025 · next to Malldova mall · marriott.com

The only internationally-branded 4-star in central Chișinău (ibis Styles, also Accor 4-star, sits by the airport). Opened 2019, on Marriott Bonvoy. 24-hour fitness centre, EV charging, four meeting rooms, business centre, bicycle rental, paid airport shuttle, New York Restaurant. ~15 min Bolt to Centru; right next to the city's biggest mall (useful with kids). Reviewers consistently flag the buffet breakfast and bedding.

Tulip Residence & Spa Hotel

4★ · 60 rms · 9.3 / 2.9k

Str. Arheolog Ion Casian-Suruceanu 17/2 · Malina Mică · tulipresidence.md · +373 69 049049

The city's clearest "spa stay" mid-range pick — indoor mini pool, Finnish sauna, hammam, Thai-themed spa with massage. Two bars, on-site Tulip restaurant (Thai/European), free parking, concierge. ~10 min drive to Centru.

Aria Hotel Chișinău

4★ · 80 rms · 8.2 / 768

Alba-Iulia 7/1, MD-2051 · ariahotel.md · +373 22 999171

Sauna, Oxygen restaurant (Eastern European), bar, business centre, three meeting rooms, free private parking + valet, pet-friendly. Reviews split on whether the 4-star claim holds — some say closer to 3-star polish. Best as a long-stay value pick.

Apart-hotels

A real strength of the Chișinău market — three high-rated properties offering kitchen + washing machine + hotel-style daily service. Better than a hotel for 4+ nights, better than Airbnb for travellers who want reception staff and tour-desk help.

Premier City Apart Hotel Chișinău

9.5 / 435

Str. Alexei Șciusev 23A · Centru · ~€86/night

Family rooms with full kitchenette + in-room washing machine. Terrace/balcony, paid airport shuttle, room service, on-site restaurant. Cash only with MDL 2,000 (~€105) cash damage deposit on arrival — confirm before booking.

Hotel Apartments Adresa

14 apts · 9.2 / 318

Bd. Constantin Negruzzi 1, MD-2001 · 400 m from train station · ~€36–49/night · +373 22 544392

14 apartments across Standard / 1-BR / 2-BR / Superior / Deluxe categories. A/C, fully equipped kitchen, free WiFi, free car parking, fresh linens. The price-to-feature standout for self-catering stays.

Aparthotel (31 August building)

9.4 · ~315 reviews

Str. 31 August 1989, 103 · Centru · ~€45–65/night · +373 79594200

Fully equipped kitchen, A/C, free self-parking, paid airport shuttle (~€10), tour desk, on-site restaurant, children's playground. Same building as ZENTRUM — easy to confuse on Booking; check the property name carefully.

Hostels & budget (€10–45/night)

Hostel quality is uneven; the five below are the picks consistently confirmed by recent Booking data. A private room in a strong hostel usually beats a low-end "hotel" of the same price.

Amazing Ionika Hostel

9.2 / 1,653

Str. Mihail Kogălniceanu 62/8 · Centru · dorms from ~€10

Strongest review depth of any Chișinău hostel. Six rooms (dorms + doubles), shared kitchen, A/C, hot tub, terrace, garden, lockers, privacy curtains, free airport shuttle, parking. Cash only.

Hostel City Center

8.9 / 3,738

Str. Alexandr Pușkin 32 (4th floor, Nr1 shopping centre) · Centru · dorms ~€22

Eight room types — 4- and 6-bed female/male dorms plus family rooms. A/C, shared kitchen + lounge + bar, 24-hour front desk, ATM/currency exchange, free WiFi, lockers. The reliable central pick.

Cabin Hostel City Center

9.4 (new)

Str. Alexandru Bernardazzi 7 · Centru · dorms from ~€10

Modern capsule/cabin-style dorms (per-bed privacy curtain, light, socket). Rising star — high ratings but review count still modest. WiFi, free parking, 24-hour access.

Wine Hotel Chișinău

Centru · €30–45/night

Small property with an on-site wine bar pouring only Moldovan wines. Rooms are simple and clean; the bar is the reason to book. Best paired with a Cricova or Mileștii Mici day-trip.

Retro Moldova Hostel

7–8 / aggregator

Str. George Coșbuc 3, apt 24 · Centru · dorms ~€20–24

Soviet kitsch décor; includes a themed underground "Bunker" common area. Free breakfast, equipped kitchen, free nearby parking, laundry. Personality you don't get at the chains; ratings below the other picks.

Airport area (Botanica)

There's no hotel inside Chișinău International Airport (RMO). The closest are 3–5 km out. Useful only for genuinely early flights — for most travellers a central hotel + 20-minute Bolt to RMO (~150 MDL pre-dawn) beats sleeping by the runway.

ibis Styles Chișinău

4★ · 100 rms · 9.2 / 1.1k

Bd. Europa 1, Băcioi, MD-6812 · ~3.5 km to RMO · ~€100/night · Accor · +373 22 883883

Newest 4-star in Moldova (opened May 2025). 100 keys (twin / single / family / suite), tennis-themed design, restaurant + lobby bar with Moldovan wine list, 24-hour fitness centre, four meeting rooms, paid airport shuttle. The only mainstream-brand airport-area hotel — and 12 km from Centru, so don't pick it for sightseeing.

Vila Iris

3★ · 22 rms · 8.2 / Booking

Bd. Dacia 49/10, Botanica, MD-2062 · ~5 km / 5 min drive · from ~€41/night · vilairis.md · +373 60 580086

Family-run 22-room 3-star (opened 2007). A/C, restaurant, buffet breakfast, paid airport transfer, three tennis courts, car rental, safety deposit box. Older property — comfortable, not slick.

Apartments & long stays

Where to look

  • Airbnb — fully legal in Moldova; hosts pay 7% income tax on gross rent. Deepest stock for short-stays.
  • Booking.com "apartments" — mirrors most of the Airbnb stock; sometimes cheaper, free-cancellation rates available.
  • Vrbo — thinner inventory (~184 apartments, ~36 houses); skews suburban (Râșcani, Ghidighici).
  • CVS.md, RentHub.md — verified local short-stay platforms.
  • 999.md, Makler.md — Moldovan classifieds with daily-rental sections; owner-direct, no escrow, Romanian/Russian only.

Price bands

  • Low end: ~€13/night for a no-frills studio.
  • Typical central one-bedroom: €35–65/night.
  • High end (renovated, designer-finish, Centru): €70–120/night.
  • Two-bedroom: €60–100/night in the centre.

Cleaning fees are modest. Most hosts accept card via the platform; in-person payment is rarely required.

What to confirm before booking

Elevator

Many central buildings are 5–9 stories without one. Confirm before arriving with luggage.

Hot water

Termoelectrica shuts off centralised hot water sector-by-sector between June and August (typically 2–6 days per address per the 2025 cycle). Ask the host whether the building has an electric or autonomous boiler.

Air conditioning

Not standard. July–August it matters; check the listing carefully.

Floor + street

Request 3rd floor or above on Bulevardul Ștefan cel Mare — the boulevard runs late. Quieter side streets are mostly fine ground-floor.

Booking & payment

Where to book

  • Booking.com — deepest inventory in Moldova; free-cancellation rates widely available. Default unless you have a reason not to.
  • Direct (email or hotel website) — sometimes 5–10% cheaper or a free upgrade, especially at smaller boutiques (BERD'S, GREGORY, Bernardazzi, Park Lane, Nobil). Quote the Booking.com price.
  • Marriott / Accor direct — use for loyalty points (Bonvoy at Courtyard; ALL Accor at BERD'S, Mercure Jazz, ibis Styles).
  • Airbnb / Vrbo — strongest for stays of 4+ nights, larger groups, or specific neighborhoods (Telecentru, Râșcani).

Payment

  • Apple Pay + Google Pay work at every contactless terminal (both launched in Moldova in 2022).
  • Visa & Mastercard contactless is universal at 4-star+ hotels.
  • American Express is accepted at major hotels (Radisson, Marriott) but less reliably elsewhere — keep a Visa/MC backup.
  • Hostels, smaller B&Bs, and a few apart-hotels (Premier City) sometimes require cash damage deposits in MDL or EUR — confirm at booking.
  • No per-night surcharge billed to guests in Chișinău (the municipal accommodation tax is paid by the property and bundled into the rate). VAT (TVA) on accommodation is 8% reduced HoReCa rate (Law 212/2023), already included in displayed prices.
  • Tipping housekeeping isn't customary but is appreciated — 20–40 MDL per night left at checkout.

Check-in basics

  • Passport at check-in — hotels register foreign guests automatically; no separate police trip required for stays under 90 days.
  • Standard times: check-in 15:00, check-out 12:00.
  • Late check-out is usually free to 13:00–14:00 mid-week on request the night before; 15:00+ may incur a half-day charge.
  • Cancellation: industry-norm free up to 24–48 h before arrival on flexible rates; non-refundable rates are typically 10–20% cheaper.
  • English is reliable at reception in every hotel listed above; Romanian + Russian elsewhere.

Policies you might forget

  • Smoking: all hotel rooms in Moldova are smoke-free by law (2016). Vaping included. Smoking on the balcony of an enclosed building counts as a violation; fines €50–150.
  • Pets: Radisson Blu does not allow pets. Aria, City Park, and ZENTRUM explicitly allow pets (City Park charges a small fee on request). Most others require advance approval + a cleaning fee. Better odds via Airbnb if you're travelling with one.
  • Pre-authorisation: most 4-star+ hotels pre-auth €50–150 on a credit card at check-in; released at check-out.

When to book

Real seasonality, despite the modest scale of the market. Chișinău isn't flat-rate year-round; aggregator data shows ~3× spread between cheapest and peak months.

Cheapest months

March consistently the floor across aggregators (~45% below mean); November and January–February also cheap. Day-of-week pattern varies by source — Friday is often cheapest on Momondo, but other aggregators put Sunday or Tuesday there.

Best value shoulders

April–May and September–October. Comfortable weather, full vineyard access, no peak pricing. The honest sweet spot for visiting.

Peak / book early

June is the clear peak across all aggregators (~60% above mean). December also expensive; August lifts on some aggregators but not all. Compound with Wine Day weekend (October) + Independence Day (August 27) for the real squeezes.

National Wine Day — 3–4 October 2026. The 25th-anniversary edition. Central hotels reliably sell out; book at least 2 months ahead. Non-refundable rates dominate as the dates approach.
Independence Day — 27 August. 90,000+ at the 2025 central concert. Centre hotels see real squeeze; book 4–6 weeks out, longer if you want Radisson or Marriott.

FAQ

Which neighborhood should I stay in?+
Centru for first-time visitors — most sights, restaurants, and embassies are walkable from Bulevardul Ștefan cel Mare, and most recommendable hotels (Radisson Blu, BERD'S, Bristol, City Park, ZENTRUM, Mercure Jazz, Bernardazzi, GREGORY, Nobil, Park Lane) sit here. Buiucani has the chain hotels (Courtyard by Marriott, Aria, Tulip Residence & Spa) — quieter, 10–20 min Bolt to the centre. Botanica only for ibis Styles or Vila Iris if you have an early flight.
How much does a decent hotel cost?+
Hostels €10–25/night (dorms €10–14; privates €30–45). Mid-range 4-star €55–130. Luxury 5-star €150–280 standard double; €300+ for top suites. Apart-hotels and apartments €35–90 for a one-bedroom in the centre. Cheapest month: March (consistently across aggregators). Peak: June. December also expensive; August varies by source.
Is there a tourist tax?+
No per-night tourist surcharge billed to guests in Chișinău. The municipal accommodation tax is paid by the property and bundled into the room rate. VAT (TVA) on accommodation is 8% (reduced HoReCa rate, Law 212/2023) and already included in displayed prices.
Apple Pay and Google Pay?+
Both work at any contactless terminal in Chișinău since 2022. Visa and Mastercard contactless is universal at 4-star hotels and most central retail. American Express is less reliably accepted — keep a Visa/MC backup.
Booking.com or direct?+
Booking.com has the deepest inventory and best cancellation terms. Direct booking sometimes unlocks a 5–10% discount or upgrade at smaller boutique hotels (Bernardazzi, GREGORY, BERD'S, Park Lane) — email the property with the Booking.com price quoted.
Does the hotel register my passport?+
Yes — hotels register foreign guests automatically at check-in. No separate police registration is needed for tourist stays under 90 days. Bring your passport to check-in; you'll get it back within minutes. Self-registration at the Bureau for Migration & Asylum (124 Bd. Ștefan cel Mare) is required only if you enter via Transnistria — within 3 days of crossing.
Are hotel rooms smoke-free?+
Yes — Moldova's 2016 smoke-free law bans smoking in all enclosed workplaces including hotel guest rooms, balconies of enclosed buildings, and within 10 m of entrances. Vaping included. Fines run MDL 1,000–3,000 (€50–150).
Do hotels include breakfast?+
Almost always at 4-star and above — typically a sit-down buffet. Mid-range and budget tiers vary; check the rate fine print. GREGORY's breakfast (with champagne) is the most cited; Courtyard by Marriott's buffet is the largest.
When do central hotels sell out?+
National Wine Day (3–4 October 2026, the 25th-anniversary edition) — book at least 2 months ahead for centre hotels. Independence Day (27 August) — book 4–6 weeks ahead. Outside those two windows, 1–2 weeks ahead is fine even in summer.
Hot water in Airbnbs?+
Chișinău's centralised system (Termoelectrica) shuts off hot water sector-by-sector for maintenance between June and August. Outages typically last 2–6 days per address (the 2025 cycle ran 2–6 days across Botanica, Rîșcani, and Buiucani). Modern hotels have independent boilers and are unaffected; Soviet-era apartment buildings without their own boiler are. Ask the apartment host whether the building has an electric or autonomous boiler before booking June–August dates.
Bolt vs Yandex Go vs airport taxi?+
Bolt launched in Chișinău on 15 September 2025 and is now the default (in-app card, English UI). Yandex Go / Yango also operate. Airport → Centru: ~150 MDL (€7.50), 20–30 min in light traffic. Official airport-rank taxis charge MDL 120–160; the metered rate is MDL 50 base + MDL 5/km. Avoid touts inside Arrivals — use the rank or the app.
Safe for solo travelers?+
Yes — Chișinău has low violent crime and a well-lit centre. The hotels and hostels above are all in busy, walkable areas. Normal big-city precautions after midnight on side streets.

Keep planning
